History

With its grand proportions and old fashioned character 196 Kelly Street has been home to many things over the years. Built in the 1860’s the quaint cottage nestled in the main street of Scone we believe was originally a private hospital and the Kyeema Guest House and more recently the Pastoral Lands Board.

Lovingly restored by Sydney businessman and local land owner Michael Crouch and his wife Shanny The Cottage is now home to the Upper Hunter’s newest restaurant. Michael and Shanny envisaged a restaurant that could become a local gathering place for everyone to visit and enjoy – a destination, and a chance to give back to the community.

It was important to keep the renovations to a high standard, maintaining and revitalising the original features and making the most of the existing spaces. The aim was to design something in line with the history and charm of the building.

The Cottage offers breakfast Tuesday to Saturday and lunch and dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday, is fully licenced and with a versatile layout it can also offer options for events from intimate dinners for 20 to larger occasions such as weddings, catering up to 150 guests cocktail style.
